Building agency, resilience, and pathways forward
Many youths, especially those from marginalised communities, grow up within the confinement of limitation. Limited resources. Limited opportunities. Limited access to information, support, and safe spaces to explore who they want to become. Over time, these limits begin to define what feels possible.
These young people do not lack aspirations. What is often missing is agency, the ability to meaningfully participate in shaping their own future. Without clarity, direction, and targeted support, the desire to go further is often overshadowed by uncertainty, self-doubt, and the daily pressure of simply getting by.
They look like growing up with a constant awareness of the constraints around them. Decisions are shaped by what feels possible, and motivation is influenced by what feels within reach rather than what might be achievable. Young people learn to limit their choices early, not because they lack ambition, but because the cost of trying feels too high.
Over time, this awareness begins to shape how young people see themselves and their options. Goals are adjusted, risks are avoided, and progress slows, reinforcing the very limitations they hope to overcome.
What is Program Kendiri?
Program Kendiri is designed to support youths at a stage where guidance, clarity, and consistent support can make a meaningful difference. Rather than focusing on constraints, the programme focuses on building agency, resilience, and the confidence to take purposeful steps forward.
We work closely with young people to help them make sense of their goals, challenges, and choices. We create space for reflection, encourage honest conversations, and provide mentorship that helps youths navigate uncertainty with greater confidence.
Program Kendiri is a journey alongside young people, offering support as they learn to navigate constraints, build resilience, and move towards opportunities that once felt out of reach.
Program Kendiri focuses on social-emotional learning, across five key focus areas that
support youths in building agency, resilience, and clarity as they navigate their growth.
Since August 2025
Over two Saturdays, we worked with 12 students from the Sungai Way community, focusing on independence, emotional management, and building support systems.
In collaboration with Taylor’s College and Persatuan Belia Seri Cempaka, we conducted a full-day workshop with 18 youths from Pantai Dalam, focusing on goals, problem solving, and emotional management.
Together with SUKA Society, we conducted a 4-day, 3-night programme in Kuala Lumpur with 13 Orang Asli youths from Slim River, focusing on goals and aspirations, motivation, and exposure to possible pathways.
Your support enables sustained mentorship, guidance, and safe spaces for youths navigating real constraints. Partner with us to help young people build agency, resilience, and pathways towards opportunities that once felt out of reach.
